Church of Christ-Scientists (Christian Scientists), or Jehovah's Witnesses. We have no connection in any way with these groups. Also, we are not part of the group of churches know as the International Churches of Christ (ICOC).
Some Basic Convictions
We believe in the Scriptures (of both the Old and New Testaments) in their original writings as fully inspired and trustworthy.
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that God created man in His own image; that man sinned and thereby incurred the penalty of death - physical and spiritual, and that all human beings have sinned.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross to save us from our sins - because of His death in our place each human being can obtain the forgiveness of their sins and thus be saved.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, His ascension to heaven, His present ministry as our High Priest and His bodily return sometime in the future.
We believe that those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, repent of their sins, confess Him as Lord and are baptised (immersed) for the forgiveness of their sins are born again and thus become children of God. In following this, a person is saved and makes a commitment to live each day as a follower of Jesus Christ.
Our Worship
Our services are conducted in a quiet, worshipful atmosphere. They are designed to draw the worshipper closer to God and to provide enduring spiritual strength.
Our worship consists only of those elements which the New Testament reveals as having been used as worship by the church in the days of the apostles. We sing and pray, partake of the Lord's Supper, have the Word of God - the Bible - read and preached, and give of our means for the spreading of the good news of Jesus Christ (the Gospel) and care of the poor. In all of this, we seek to maintain the attitude which Christ taught when He said:
"God is Spirit, and those that worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." - John chapter 4, verse 24.
